Is Your House A Home?

What a year we have had in 2020!
I was reminiscing with some friends about our 2020 New Years Eve party. Everyone was excited for the year ahead, and we all felt something was going to happen...something big. Well, we got something, didn’t we? Not what any of us expected or wanted, but life comes at you in different ways.
While this year has been interesting, I think we can all agree that we’re ready to put 2020 behind us. Now is the time for that fresh start!
For most of us, the last year reminded us that our living spaces are for so much more important than just sleeping and eating. We need space to create, to work, to play, and to relax. We have found that our outside sitting spaces, our gardens, and our relaxing areas need love and care.
We all found out that we need a home, not just a house, to live in. A home to share with friends and family - to binge watch Tiger King, share homemade eggnog, and to cultivate connection with each other. Maybe this year is the year to look for a house to call your home.
I have used this statement before…”a house to call home”…thinking I realized what it meant. This past year showed me the true meaning of that phrase. We need somewhere to help us escape and seek sanctuary - our castle, or, as my friend calls it, her “ jewel box”. We need to feel safe from work and whatever big-scary lurks outside.
A home can do that for you.

A home can also give you a sense of accomplishment. This past year I’ve seen yards transform into great entertaining areas, a kitchen redesigned to actually cook in, and a sense that a home is more than a place to rest your head at the end of the day.
So looking towards the future, are you in the home that you love? Are you looking for the house that you need? Have your “wish list” items become “need list” items. Are you in a house, or are you in a home?
If you need a partner in figuring out what your home looks like, I am here to help. My goal is to help you find the place that brings you happiness and joy. Here is to finding our way home and more in the New Year!
